This sushi bar in Seattle is a gem! It's always very busy, so make sure to put down a reservation if you want to secure a spot. The service here is good. The staff are attentive and friendly. The food is delicious and definitely on the higher side $$$. We had grabbed a pork belly bun, chicken karage, and dan dan noodles all which I would happily reccomend. The vibe of the place is immaculate, with a modern and inviting atmosphere that enhances the dining experience. Seating is a little tight for my preference (could hear nieghboring date conversations), depending on what table you're placed at.

Before dining in their restaurant in Cap. Hill, I've tried their Curry Pork Katsu bowls w/ added donut twice now during a Mariners game at T-Mobile Park. It's never disappointed me so far. Just like finally eating at their restaurant did not disappoint. Even on this unusually hot day with no AC, the feeling of being hot and sticky added to the ambiance of their fun and quirky decor. Our server was amazing and attentive. Our food and cocktails were all the bomb! I look forward to dining here again and trying more things.

We definitely had a bit of an mixed (though mostly positive) experience during our recent happy hour visit. While the ambiance was inviting, the happy hour menu was entirely underwhelming, as the selection was limited, and the discounts didn't feel substantial enough to justify the smaller portions. We decided to venture into the regular menu for a more satisfying experience. The TAMARIBAR STYLE CHIRASHI BOWL, a colorful assortment of fresh seafood over rice, was a visual delight. However, the portion size left us wanting more for the price. While the flavors were enjoyable, the bowl might be better suited for a lighter appetite. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the bento box. This beautifully presented assortment of Japanese favorites was a culinary adventure. From the perfectly cooked short rib to the flavorful sashimi, each element showcased the chef's skill and attention to detail. The bento box is a definite must-try and a testament to Tamari Bar's potential. Next time, I would like to TORA GOZEN, but will probably skip the chrashi bowl!

We came here to meet with friends for dinner. I got The Ocean Salad and The Rockin Wagyu Beef. The Ocean Salad came with a sashimi, a shrimp, and some masago/roe. It was very fresh-tasting. The Rockin Waygu Beef was slices of wagyu that you cook yourself on a hot rock. That was different, never did that before. And it was quick and easy, since I like it rare and didn't need to leave on the rock too long.

This place has such a cool and chill vibe, with really great tapas type food. Service was great too and food comes out super fast. I feel like we got to try almost everything on the menu, and my highlights were the 206 curry, and on the specials menu was a bento box with a variety of fresh fish and sides.

Their sister restaurant is almost better but the decor at Tamari is a bit cuter. Their menu is similar where they do a bunch of Japanese fusion food. Their SRW isn't worth it, since it's basically the same price as their happy hour menu. So if you're waiting to try the place, just come during happy hour where you can get a bit of everything. Their sashimi was fresh. Their chirashi don was not worth the price in my opinion. The rice was all loose, almost wet. And it was not filling at all for paying a full main dinner price for it. Definitely a fun place to come to if you enjoy bar seating as well.

Cute Japanese restaurant in CapHill. Not gonna lie - I'm feeling a bit cheated out of the sashimi staircase we ordered. I expected more raw fish, especially after seeing so many pictures. Other than that, everything was really good and tasty. The curry was great, per usual. The cilantro udon wasn't was I was expecting and a bit too oily for me but really enjoyed the addition of the veggies. The spider bao with the sauce was good but not sure if I'd pay $8 for one again. They have a good happy hour menu and even have a drink that comes with three pieces of karaage. Love that Baiten and Tamari Bar are connected and you can still get Baiten sweets at Tamari even if Baiten is closed! Highly recommend, especially for happy hour!

Tamari Bar is a modern, chic, Japanese restaurant on Capitol Hill with prices to match. The presentation and ambience of Tamari Bar is spot on. I feel like this would be a great spot to impress a first date, but you wouldn't come back because you can find better Japanese food at lower prices once you've established what you two are and therefore, are now comfortable enough with each other to just get poke takeout from Uwajimaya. Ya know what I mean? My friend and I visited Tamari Bar on a Friday night for dinner and this place was poppin'. We walked in with no reservation, but that was okay because we wanted to sit outside on the patio where seats were available. And hey, there were a bunch of couples, maybe on their first date here, like the couple I was sitting next to who was asking each other questions like, "How do you feel about raw fish?" I told you this was a place to go on a first date! I ordered a high ball with yuzu, which was refreshing and fantastic while my friend had a lychee martini. For food, she ordered the chirashi bowl while I had the bento box special of the night. Food didn't take long to get and once it arrived at the table, we busted out our phones like everyone does here because the presentation is on point, like I previously mentioned. The bento box was elevated, with nine different items to sort through. Of the bunch, I liked the poke and albacore sashimi. Raw fish is my jam, so figures I'd like this best. I had higher expectations for the wagyu nigiri. I wanted it to melt in my mouth, but nah. It was just steak on rice, y'all. I would not order this again because it's $38 and not worth the hefty price tag. I do like the vibe a lot here at Tamari Bar even though the food wasn't the best. I mean, it's far from bad by any means. But it's expensive and you want to feel satisfied when you spend a lot of dough on a meal. Of course, this doesn't matter when you're on a first date because like Tamari Bar, you're here to impress. Later on though if things are going well in your now-established relationship, I think you should just come here for happy hour to take advantage of the lower prices then check out the neighboring dessert window for soft serve. Now THAT is my kind of date.

Tamari Bar is an absolute gem for anyone seeking an authentic and unforgettable Japanese dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you're transported to a haven of culinary excellence and warm hospitality. Has studio ghibli movies playing in the background The eel rice bowl is perfectly grilled to perfection, imparting a smoky richness that perfectly complements the fluffy rice and delicate flavors of the sushi. The sweet and savory sauce drizzled over the eel elevates the dish to new heights, leaving you craving more with each bite. You do not have to leave for dessert as they have Baiten connected to the shop!
